Papyrus
PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.
The work we do centres around five key pillars; Support, Equip, Influence, Sustain and Enable.
SUPPORT:
We offer professional advice and information to young people and those who are worried about them when suicide becomes part of their lived experience. We intervene to protect life where this is endangered. We do this every day of the year.
EQUIP:
Our people reach and engage with communities across the UK. We have strengthened our volunteering offer. Staff and volunteers reflect the diverse communities they engage with. They are geographically dispersed across the UK. They work with partners and local suicide prevention planning groups to aid joined-up thinking and action.

Positive Action in Housing
Positive Action in Housing is an independent homelessness and human rights charity dedicated to supporting refugees and migrants to rebuild their lives.

The service consists of a highly proactive crisis intervention advice service focusing on getting people proper legal support, access to housing and crisis support.

The Room for Refugees Network helps men, women and children who are fleeing for their lives to rebuild their lives.
Money Skills Project
The Money Skills Project provides people from BME, refugee and migrant communities with one-to-one money, debt advice/representation, and workshops to reduce fuel poverty and improve financial stability.
Positive Cycles
Positive Cycles started as a community-based project delivering affordable bikes to local people. Since starting, the project has grown, encouraging more people to recycle and take up cycling.
We take old bikes, clean them up and then our groups of volunteers and young people fix them, gaining AQA qualifications in the process. The newly-refurbished bikes are then donated to local families, used in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester or sold, with all profits being given back to the Positive Cycles project to buy equipment and parts.
The bike workshop is also used by our Youth Justice Service as part of the unpaid community work of young offenders. The young people are involved in cleaning and fixing donated bikes and making sure they are ready to be resold. In doing this they gain valuable experience and AQA qualifications.

Primus Solicitors is an established, niche law firm specialising in UK Immigration and nationality law.
Our Personal Immigration Services team provide individuals and families with the guidance they need to tackle any type of immigration case. From UK Spouse Visas to Applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain, we cover all areas of immigration.

Project MAMA
Project MAMA exists so that no parent has to go it alone. We offer migrated Mamas holistic, compassionate support during pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.
Rainbow Haven
Rainbow Haven is a place of welcome, support, and opportunity for displaced people in Manchester and the surrounding areas.
We provide community drop-in sessions that offers support and activities for refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.
The drop-in is a welcoming and safe space for people to come and relax, have a drink or a hot meal, and meet others. Through the drop in, people can also access our advice and information services and learn more about our courses and activities programme.
A creche is available during all basic classes.
Rainbow Noir
Rainbow Noir is a volunteer-led social group, we celebrate, elevate and advocate for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersex People of Colour (LGBTQI PoC).
We are committed to creating a space of our own, places to feel safe, where LGBTQI people of colour can meet, hang out, form friendships and find community. We facilitate a bi-monthly social space in person and a lively WhatsApp group chat.
RAPAR
RAPAR (Refugee and Asylum Participatory Action Research) is a human rights organisation based in Manchester, UK, which is primarily concerned with displaced people, and issues relating to displaced people. Refugee Action
Our Asylum Crisis Project works with asylum seekers, refused asylum seekers and those seeking to claim asylum, who are based in Greater Manchester, to understand their entitlements to accommodation and support, to access that support and to challenge barriers to that support, through advocacy, appeals and legal challenge. Asylum Crisis also seeks to ensure that the support provided is suitable and adequate for the needs of our clients.
Asylum Crisis strives to ensure our clients are aware of and able to access a range of services including legal advice, health and social care, education, community groups, charitable support social and well-being opportunities.
Refugee Aid Chorlton
Refugee Aid (Chorlton) is a charity based in South Manchester. We are all volunteers and work with partner organisations to provide a range of practical items for asylum seekers and refugees across Greater Manchester.
We can provide:
- Clothes, shoes, new underwear and socks
- New toiletries
- Small toys, games, DVDs, craft materials and stationery for school/college aged pupil
- Baby equipment e.g. pram, buggy, stroller, Moses basket filled with clothes, toys, sling and new born nappies, bath
- Bikes, with lock & helmet, and scooters. We also provide mechanical help for clients who have a bike that we have provided.

The Refugee Council is a leading charity working with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Founded in 1951 following the creation of the UN Refugee Convention, we exist to support and empower people who have fled conflict, violence and persecution in order to rebuild their lives here in the UK. We work with over 13,000 women, men and children each year who are desperately seeking safety. From the moment refugees arrive in the UK, we are here. We recruit and support volunteer hosts who are willing to offer a temporary home and a helping hand. Our role is to carefully match each guest and host, to assess and prepare them ready for hosting, to advise on hosting arrangements and accommodation, and to provide ongoing support to hosts throughout each stay.

Refugees Welcome North Somerset
Refugees Welcome North Somerset (RWNS) is a community led charity. Established in 2016, RWNS started as a group of local people collecting aid for those in camps in Northern Europe and beyond. Volunteers have since worked with North Somerset Council to ready houses for vulnerable families arriving under the government’s resettlement schemes. RWNS offers friendship and support to refugees, asylum seekers, and other displaced people across North Somerset. Our work includes: Rehoming – preparing secure, comfortable accommodation for displaced people in the South West Donations – linking donations of items to those in need Befriending – our companionship service welcomes new arrivals and helps people settle into the area Welcome Centres – regular sessions for resettled refugees and newly arrived individuals Welcome Meals – opportunities to gain confidence and skills while sharing dishes from home Campaigning and fundraising – wider activities that support those in need of a safe place to go
Refugee Welcome Homes
Justice. Welcome. Partnership. Respect. Integrity. Refugee Welcome Homes is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Bristol. Our mission is to reduce homelessness for refugees by bringing people with a spare room in their home together with refugees needing a place to call home. We provide ongoing support and signposting to landlords and lodgers to enable refugees to resettle in Bristol.
Refugee Women Connect (Drop-in)
Refugee Women Connect, previously known as MRANG, is a women-only charity set up to support women asylum-seekers, refugees and survivors of trafficking. We work together to build a safe life in the UK for all women in the asylum seeker and refugee community.
Our current activities include an extensive outreach programme which incorporates weekly visits to Initial Accommodation Centres and weekly drop-ins where women can access a range of emotional and practical support and activities. We are also part of various multi-agency drop-ins that take place across the region.
With the support of our volunteers, we have been able to accompany women to appointments to offer much-needed support and encouragement and are hoping to develop this work further in the future. In response to the increased need for mental health support, we offer self-esteem support groups and one to one emotional support. With the rise in homelessness and lack of legal support we are developing our casework, including becoming OISC accredited, to respond to the increased need for casework.
Refugee Women of Bristol
Refugee Women of Bristol (RWoB) is the only multi-ethnic, multi-faith organisation that specifically targets the needs of refugee women in Bristol, we are directly governed by women of the refugee and asylum-seeking community. We provide services to disenfranchised groups over and above the generic category of ‘refugee’, and routinely reach cohorts of women that other service providers overlook or are unable to access.
Our services are available to registered members* only and take place in our weekly Tuesdays, term-time only drop-in centre. All pre-school children are welcome.

Rethink Rebuild Society
Rethink Rebuild Society (RR) is a Manchester-based charity that works towards improving the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants, in particular but not exclusively Syrians in the UK, helping them become positively established within British society.
At RR we offer:
- Refugee Support: Advice service that provides support with benefits, job searches, and immigration matters, thus working to improve the economic and social well-being of Syrians and refugees from other countries, helping them to become self-reliant in their new country. We also provide advice regarding education, housing and employment. Education and training are also provided in computer skills, entrepreneurship, and volunteering opportunities, mainly in English.
- Social Inclusion: Education and training in English language and culture; promotes the arts culture and heritage of refugee communities; and provides recreational facilities that bring communities together and relieve isolation.
- Social Gatherings: We run social gatherings, in particular but not exclusively, for the Syrian community during Eid days and Christmas and Easter holidays, a time when many may feel particularly lonely or isolated, away from family and friends.
- Annual Syrian Day: Our annual 'Syrian Fun Day' is a celebration of Syrian heritage that brings together hundreds of people from all over the country. Typically hosted during the summer, this event is widely attended by guests and dignitaries who enjoy Syrian food and explore a market-style array of clothing, literature, souvenirs, and more.
- Monthly Seminars and Movie Screenings: Our monthly seminars and movie screenings address issues pertaining to Syria or Syrians, or refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants from other countries, and allow for constructive discussion and debate.
- Educational Projects: In collaboration with a number of charities and organisations, has already initiated educational projects as well as children and adolescent protection programmes. We have helped establish and support schools in several parts of Syria that together are accommodating thousands of Syrian children of varying ages.

Rochdale Borough Council offers a variety of services to support residents, including housing, education, social care, and community wellbeing. They work with individuals, families, and local organisations to provide essential support like housing advice, school admissions, and financial assistance.
Rochdale Council Homelessness Service
Rochdale Borough Council provides advice and assistance to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. They work with local organisations and services to prevent homelessness and help individuals access safe accommodation.
Safety for Sisters
Safety4Sisters was established to address the exclusion of migrant women (particularly those with 'no recourse to public funds') from the most basic rights of safety and protection. We work toward this through our policy work - highlighting strategies and practices that exclude migrant women from protection within statutory and voluntary provision.
The core work of Safety4Sisters is the Migrant Women’s Support Group that gives voice to migrant women fleeing abuse. This is a space which attends to the dynamics of both gender based violence and immigration controls, and which connects individual experiences with wider women's struggles.
During the school holidays we run weekly trips with the women and children - most importantly these are fun, but we’re also working to ensure that migrant families are able to access public space. We work with organisations to ensure that they are inclusive and accessible to migrant women.

At Saheli we provide support and refuge from domestic abuse to women from Black, Asian and minority communities and their children, to improve social inclusion, build confidence and skills, achieve emotional and practical well-being, and enable them to lead independent lives.

Salford Assist
Salford Assist is a Salford City Council scheme that can offer short term support to people who are in a crisis, emergency or major disaster situation. These situations can mean that you are unable to meet the basic needs of yourself or your family.
Salford Assist doesn’t offer cash payments, but would consider your immediate needs and try to help with essential items such as:
- A referral for baby milk, nappies or food for your baby and your family
- Essential furniture items, for example a bed, or white goods
- Shopping vouchers
- Help with emergency supply of gas or electric where there is no heating in the household
- Advice and referrals to another service, agency or fund
- Council tax support
- Copies of birth certificates for homeless people
Assistance may also include things such as seeking debt advice, referral routes to affordable loans and recycled furniture schemes. We also give advice on how to access more affordable fuel tariffs and benefits.
Salford City Council
Salford City Council offers a variety of services to support its residents, including help with housing, education, health, social care, and employment. They work closely with local organisations, families, and individuals to ensure access to necessary resources. Referrals can come from individuals, professionals, or community services. Their work includes managing school admissions, offering housing support, providing benefits advice, and helping people live independently.
Salford Community and Voluntary Services ( Salford CVS)
Salford CVS is the city-wide infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector; providing specialist information, advice, development support and opportunities for influence and collaboration. We provide support for organisations to establish and develop including training for their staff, volunteers and trustees.
Salford Food Parcels Project
Salford Food Parcels is a food bank fighting local food poverty.
We provide free food to anyone in food poverty. We work in collaboration with the Red Cross who provide destitute asylum seekers with bus fare to attend the project. We also help anyone who is struggling with coping for a short period until they are able to manage again.
We provide basic food stuff and as much fresh food as we are able to obtain from other food providers, such as Fareshare and Fareshare Go (food from Tesco extra and express) or from our allotment.
Salford Foundation
We’re a charity providing opportunities for young people and adults to create better futures.

Targeted Youth Support Services – Early intervention and prevention with intensive support for vulnerable young people aged 8+ with emotional, social, behavioural needs and their families. Salford LA Housing Options Point
Salford City Council provides support to individuals facing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless. They offer advice and assistance to prevent homelessness and help people find alternative accommodation. Referrals are made through a self-referral form, and a case officer will assess the situation within three working days. Services include temporary accommodation for those in priority need, emergency shelter for immediate homelessness, and tailored housing plans. They work with local organisations to provide support, including emergency contact for after-hours situations.

SARI
We are here for you. SARI provides free and confidential support for anyone who is a victim of hate crime across Avon and Somerset. Whether that’s based on race, faith, disability, sexual orientation, transgender identity, age, or sex. We also work to build greater understanding and respect for diversity and difference within our community.

Our ESOL Skills for Life Academy is ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to improve their English, find work and integrate successfully into life in the UK.

Smartworks
Smart Works Greater Manchester supports unemployed women from across all Greater Manchester boroughs and the wider North West and from a range of different backgrounds and age groups (16+ years). Our services enable women to feel more confident and start believing in their own ability to succeed.
Our free services include:
- Pre-employment Career Coaching session for unemployed women who are looking for work.

St Johns Centre
At the St Johns Centre we help local people to reach their potential through education, recreation and practical support and to nurture good relationships within our diverse and vibrant community.
We do this by providing adult learning courses, volunteering opportunities, wellbeing activities and events to bring together our community. We also offer space for community groups, as well as for parties and other private events.
Our Community Hub provides help with food, energy costs and household items, and signposting to other sources of support.
St Marys Sexual Assault Referral Centre
Saint Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) provides a comprehensive and co-ordinated forensic, counselling and aftercare service to men, women and children living in the Greater Manchester area who have experienced rape or sexual assault, whether this has happened recently or in the past. We also offer immediate crisis support and a forensic service to Cheshire.
You can use our services without making a report to the police or we can support you if and when you want to speak to the police

Stride Partnership CIC
Stride Partnership is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that provides accommodation and basic reintegration support services to refugees within the North West of England, predominantly focussing on the Greater Manchester region and Lancashire.
We primarily tailor our training and events to refugees that have intentions of gaining a tenancy within the UK. Further to this, we provide educational events on budgeting and on integrating in diverse communities.
- Housing - To provide accommodation to newly granted refugees who might otherwise struggle.
- Support - Providing a short to medium term support network as a refugee acclimatises to their new environment.
- Integration - Making use of services to help the refugee integrate into the local community as naturally as possible.
- Partnerships - Working with other refugee and migrant services that can provide support when requested.
St Thomas and St Lukes Church
St Thomas’ and St Luke’s work alongside several other local churches to support asylum seekers and refugees who are based in our town. This ministry is an important way in which we can show God’s love to people who have had to leave their homes and face very tough situations. Our ministry to support asylums seekers includes:
- Language classes. On Thursday afternoons at 3:00 pm we provide weekly English classes for those who want to come along and improve their English language skills. The classes take place in St Thomas’ church hall.
- Social. At 1 pm on Sundays, we provide a drop-in for those who want to come along for a drink and a chat or to play games. These socials take place in St Thomas’ church hall.
- Discipleship Group. There is a WhatsApp Group where Farsi speaking Christians can encourage each other in their faith and pray for each other. There is also a bible study in Farsi on a Friday morning, details of which are shared on WhatsApp. Please contact Sue Thomas (07877704645) to be added into this group. Each third Sunday of the month there is a service in St Thomas in Farsi at 4pm.
- Compass meets at Emma and Antony Billington’s home each Monday from 3pm until 5pm. Come for a drink and a chat or to use the wi-fi. We are happy to help with making phone calls, writing letters and emails, and sorting any problems online. Survivors Manchester
We Are Survivors is a survivor focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male (including trans and non-binary individuals) survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation across Greater Manchester providing to access quality assured support.
Our work is focused on developing ways for individuals to empower themselves to work through personal and sometimes painful issues, guided and supported by our trauma-informed team, following the trauma and recovery model.

Mentoring - Our goal is to help individuals start their professional journey. Our mentors offer guidance to help them improve their skills and reach their full potential.

We can help to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English. You can practise your English through online learning activities on our website.

Tameside Housing Advice provides housing advice and assistance via telephone and email.
The Broughton Trust
The Trust provides adult learning, youth work, employment support and community development across the city. most of its employees and volunteers live within an 8-mile radius of the organisation.
In partnership with a range of employers and training providers we provide a pathway into meaningful employment for the unqualified, unskilled and inexperienced, particularly in fields such as construction, hospitality and personal services. We offer a range of services from job clubs, pre-employment training and work sampling all underpinned by 1:1 support. We contact some of the most difficult to track and place young adults (the ‘invisible’) who are on no-one’s register, who claim no benefits and who live outside the system.
We have also helped to organise recycling projects, fashion and dance events, sponsored bike rides and cross-generational projects.
The Destitution Project
DP aims to provide a safe environment for asylum seekers and refugees where they can find friendship, food and practical help.
Asylum seekers, destitute/refused asylum seekers and refugees are welcome to visit the Drop-In for tea and coffee, a hot cooked meal, free clothes and bedding as well as games for children, english lessons and arts and crafts.
Everything we offer is FREE for our service users, however, first priority is given to refused asylum seekers (with no recourse to public funds), asylum seekers and then refugees.
We also provide casework support for asylum seekers and refused asylum seekers who live in Bolton. Please note that, based on our Charity’s registration, we are not able to provide casework help to anyone living outside of Bolton or anyone who is an EU citizen or a British passport holder.
The Haven
The Haven is a specialist primary healthcare service for asylum seekers and refugees who are new to Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Our team of staff consists of a GP and nurses who will assess and meet the initial health needs of asylum seekers and new refugees. We also help people to access health services and other services they need.
The Hope Service
The Hope service is an NHS service which helps asylum seekers, refugees and victims of trafficking who have experienced trauma in adulthood and have a primary diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The people we support have often experienced multiple traumas in their home country and on their journey to the UK. They may face other practical challenges, for example unstable housing, poverty and discrimination. The care pathway within the service involves Moving On After Trauma (MOAT) groups and one-to-one specialist trauma-focused psychological support. We also provide wellbeing initiatives, such as a walking group and art group. These are run by our recovery coordinators, working with voluntary sector partners where possible. We work closely with Bristol Refugee Rights, Borderlands, Mind and Unseen to ensure our service users receive specialist support across their different needs.
The Hub Altrincham
The Hub is a partnership between Trafford Council and Altrincham Baptist Church, providing a community space for Trafford residents. This is a place to connect with others and make friendships as well as a place to learn, to be supported, and 'to be part of something.'
From tiny tots to seniors, and everyone in between, we have a whole host of groups and activities on offer inside our doors.
You can access a range of support services via The Hub. From Citizen's Advice, to language courses or simply a listening ear, if we can't meet your needs here at The Hub we will do our best to find someone who can.
The Oasis Centre
The Oasis centre offers support to address the needs of people in crisis situations.
We have four interlinked projects focusing on different areas of support required through a period of crisis.
Re-build
Our Re-build project offers emergency provisions such as food and clothing, a cafe which is open four days a week offering hot nutritious food, and our own dedicated crisis support team who can signpost to relevant agencies and support with the root cause of the emergency such as debt or mental health difficulties.
Re-engage
Through our re-engage project we help everybody to feel like part of the community. We offer wellbeing support activities such as trips and social days, leisure activities such as board games, quizzes and workshops. In addition our community support team are on hand to help with the process of re-engagement.
Re-skill
Through our Re-skill programme, we provide a relaxed and encouraging setting to learn and practice. Clients are given the opportunity to develop the pre-requisite skills necessary for a functional lifestyle and successful employment. We introduce them to literacy, numeracy, home economics and art in a creative and non-threatening way. This one year programme includes: Urban Art; Cookery Workshop; English For Everyone; Maths Made Easy and Science workshops.

Housing Options Service Trafford (HOST) provides housing advice and assistance via telephone and email during our normal operating hours. If you become homeless outside of these hours, your call will automatically divert to HOST’s out of hours service.
Trauma Foundation South West
We provide free, long-term psychotherapy and counselling to highly traumatised refugees and asylum seekers. We also provide specialist training, supervision and consultancy to agencies and individuals who work with traumatised people. We try to be as accessible as possible; we provide interpreters and can see clients both in person and remotely. Connecting families together - Through our Stork Peer Support groups and Stay & Play sessions, we ensure parents can make friends with others who have both the same and different experiences of parenthood, sharing languages, cultures and more.
Breast feeding support - Our BOOBS approved venues, breastfeeding cafes, specialist antenatal classes and 1:1 peer support helps mums to achieve their breastfeeding goals - whether for one week, 6 months or 2 years and beyond.
Stork Store community shop - Provides affordable toys, games, clothes and equipment 0-teenager, as well as free school uniform and books and discounted baby essentials. We run weekly sessions from the hub and offer drop-in appointments to help with benefit forms and Healthy start applications.
