Haamla Service
Haamla
Haamla provides essential support for pregnant women and their families, from ethnic minority communities, including asylum seekers and refugees throughout their pregnancy and postnatal period. It aims to improve access within maternity services, empower and inform women of the choices available during their pregnancy and birth, to improve their health and wellbeing.
Services include:
Haamla Midwifery Team
We will help you to access our maternity services and support you with the different choices available to you during your pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born.
Haamla Support Workers
Bi-lingual Haamla Maternity Support Workers will provide support and information for you about your maternity care choices. This can be at your home, a Children’s Centre or at the hospital. They will support you if you have any social, religious or cultural needs.
Haamla Antenatal Groups
If you are pregnant, you can come along to our antenatal classes.
The classes will give you information about pregnancy, birth and caring for your baby in a relaxed setting. Interpreters may be at the classes if you need this support.
The classes take place every week:
Tuesdays 12:00 - 2pm at South Group 2 Family Services Centre (inside Dewsbury Road Hub), 190 Dewsbury Road L11 6PF
Wednesdays 12:00 - 2pm at The Compton Centre, Harehills Lane, LS9 7BG
