Wood Street Mission
Wood Street Mission helps support families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford, with practical support and services.
We provide practical help to help meet children’s day-to-day needs and improve their life chances. Through Family Basics we provide struggling families with children’s clothes, bedding and baby equipment, and toys and books which are important for children’s wellbeing and development.
We promote engagement in education by helping families with the costs of going to school through SmartStart and run Book Roadshows in local schools to promote reading and improve children’s literacy. We also provide toys for children to have presents on Christmas Day.
How to access:
You cannot self refer. You need to be referred to Wood Street Mission by a professional who knows your family’s circumstances well – for example, someone at your child’s school, a social worker, health visitor, midwife, or support worker. They will need to send us a form which they can find on our For Referrers page. You can also find information there about what happens next.
