St Johns Centre - ESOL courses

We generally have several ESOL courses and conversation groups running at St John’s at various levels, in association with the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) and other providers.


In September 2025, tour ESOL classes will include:

• Entry Level 2 Accredited

• Pre-entry and Entry 1 unaccredited

• Functional Skills (for fluent English speakers who need help with reading and writing)

We also have our open access, volunteer-led groups, which are free and open to anyone at any level.

They hold a drop-in session at St John’s Centre from 1-3pm on the fourth Tuesday of every month if you would like to talk to someone in person – no appointment needed.

Eligibility

Immigration Status: All

Region: Greater Manchester

Asylum seekers who have been in the country for 6 months are eligible for a free place on any of these, as long as they are over 19 at the start of the course. Anyone who hasn't yet been in the country for 6 months can join the ESOL groups.
