Manchester Cathedral - Volition Community

If you are working towards finding a job that’s right for you why not try Volition. Volition is a friendly and informal 10 week programme that combines volunteering with job search skills. We’re based right in the heart of Manchester and Salford, and you choose which location is best for you.

Services include:

• One Day Per Week:
We work together as a group one day per week between 9.30am and 2.30pm for 10 weeks. We are based at either Manchester Cathedral Visitors Centre or at Salford Cathedral.  Occasionally we have a day out and work at another city centre venue.  There is no religious content.  

We have a strong no goodbyes policy. Our volunteers can stay with us for as long as they wish and return to us whenever they need to.

• Volunteering:

We have opportunities available with our bee hives at the Cathedrals, gardening, welcoming, reception, facilities, admin, events, caretaking, social media and hospitality support.

• Employment Support:

We can help with employment searches, applications and updating CVs. We can provide a reference after your fifth week with us.


How to access:

You can get in touch yourself or ask your work coach or a trusted friend to do it for you. We have lots of start dates throughout the year. We are not a mandatory service and engaging with us won’t affect any benefits you receive.
