Coexist Community Kitchen

Connecting through Food The Coexist Community Kitchen is a non-profit cookery school in Easton, Bristol. Our main aim is to use food as a vehicle to work with people who experience social marginalisation in our society. We believe that everyone should be able to have spaces in which they can share food together, learn and teach skills and create strong connections with others. We see food as the most simple and easy way to support each other in building a stronger, healthier and more joyful society.

Outreach Cooking Classes

Last updated 05/12/24

Our weekly outreach cookery classes are run specifically for people who experience marginalisation from society. This time in the kitchen provides an opportunity for people to learn and share skills around food, build connections, create and share food and feel at home. Each class is run and organised in partnership with Bristol-based drug and alcohol services, mental health organisations, refugee and asylum seeker groups.

Speak & Eat Classes

Last updated 05/12/24

Speak&Eat is a free, regular six-week cookery and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class that is open to refugees and asylum seekers who are looking to improve their English, whilst preparing and sharing delicious foods from around the world. During each weekly session, we explore a different cuisine chosen by individual group participants. Together we cook and prepare dishes from countries across the world. We then learn and practice dining traditions and customs from those countries as we sit together around the dining table to enjoy the food we have cooked. An hour is also dedicated to speak and improve English skills with the guide of the super talented and amazing Aisha, our qualified English teacher. To refer someone or find out more, please contact Kelly.
