Bristol Refugee Festival
Bristol Refugee Festival coordinates a collaborative year-round programme of arts, cultural and educational events, bringing together communities from across Bristol and beyond to connect, share and celebrate. We aim to celebrate the contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to the city, create a better understanding of why people seek sanctuary, help overcome misconceptions and promote successful community cohesion.

Community Engagement Programme
Our community cohesion workshops and activities known as Celebrating Sanctuary Local, is a package of local activities to educate and promote how to include marginalised refugees and asylum seekers locally, including welcome chats and creating spaces of welcome workshops, culminating in a localised celebratory event co-created by refugees and asylum seekers and local residents. We work in communities across Bristol and South Gloucestershire and if you are an organisation, community hub or individual who would like to be involved, please get in touch.

Volunteering
Bristol Refugee Festival has a range of well-supported volunteering opportunities that help us with our events and activities. These include event crew, evaluation, comms & social media.
/
We also have an Ambassador programme specifically for those with lived experience of the asylum process or forced migration, to support our work and gain further skills.
Our Ambassadors provide a voice for their community, actively take part in our events and workshops and advise on our programming. We are keen for them to offer their skills and knowledge, but we also offer them training and development to gain further skills in areas such as event planning, evaluation practices, media communications, public speaking.
