GMYN - Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) Programmes
Our UASC programmes work with young people in the UK who are undergoing an individual asylum process for leave to remain.
We provide a variety of development activities, including:
• Wellbeing focused activities: supporting young people to overcome personal barriers, build relationships and work through trauma amongst peers.
• Day visits and travel training: supporting young people in trips to towns, cities, areas of natural beauty (AONB) and heritage sites within the Northwest region. We intentionally engage our young people in their local and broader communities.
• Life skills activities: supporting young people to build key skills and capabilities in the absence of further training and employment opportunities.
• Social Action campaigns: raising awareness of prevalent issues for these young people and engaging/giving back to their community
• One-to-one support: enabling unaccompanied children to have direct one-to-one support from a GMYN Programme Coordinator.

Greenspace Wellbeing Project
Being connected to nature has been shown to improve our mood and lessen symptoms of depression and anxiety. Our new Mind without Borders Greenspace Project is exclusively for Refugee and Asylum Seekers who would like to just get outside in a safe, quiet space with others, to cook together over the campfire, make some crafts and get in touch with the seasons. This project is held once a week at ‘Boiling Wells’ which is a wooded space belonging to St Werburgh’s City Farm. The space is private with no public access, and so it allows us to relax outside without fear of passersby, dogs or wayward footballs! Although it is a free drop-in, we will be complying to max of 10 people so it will be based on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to get in touch with the project coordinator, please email Jessica.Beeston@bristolmind.org.uk or call 07932 632569

Homes for Ukraine
We are working in partnership with Bristol City Council to support the hosts on the Homes for Ukraine scheme. We are the main point of contact for hosts in this scheme and are funded to provide this support to every host under the scheme in Bristol. We have video and written resources on a variety of topics, which are all available to hosts on request. We also run host support drop-ins and email and telephone host support from our team of full time resettlement support workers. Additionally, we support hosts and guests who would like to transfer onto a lodging agreement from their Homes for Ukraine placement. If your guest has moved on and you would like to take on a lodger, Refugee Welcome Homes can help match you with a Ukrainian lodger or a refugee lodger.

Leadership Training
We run a Leadership Training Programme every year, so that we can give participants the chance to step up and become leaders. Our Programme equips participants with vital leadership skills, which they can put into practice in a supported environment at our residentials. Our Leadership Training Programme is a bespoke course, focusing on practical leadership skills, self-esteem and team building. To further up-skill our LITs we hold monthly meet-ups. These meet-ups mean that we can reconnect on a regular basis and keep up momentum between residentials. Our ambition is that OSH will become peer-led: participants will join OSH, complete our Leadership Training Programme, lead for the first time, and inspire more participants to follow in their footsteps.

Managing Low Mood
The symptoms of depression we experience such as tiredness, lack of interest or pleasure in daily activities can lead to malaise and inactivity. This inactivity keeps depression going and can even make it worse. Little things get overlooked and we soon stop doing simple everyday tasks. This leads to people feeling overwhelmed or insurmountable. Our low mood course supports you to overcome depression by stopping and reversing this inertia. By changing what you do, you can change the way you feel. This 6-week group course helps you understand depression and its causes. We focus mainly on the link between what you do and how you feel. Vita’s Managing Low Mood course teaches basic skills in how to improve your mood and get your life back on track.
